ABout This Show
The Arab Puppet Theater Foundation is pleased to invite you to attend its art exhibition “Dongola”.
This exceptional exhibition comes as part of the Foundation’s efforts to sustain its cultural activities across the Arab region.
For many years, the Foundation has worked with dedication in numerous Arab countries. It is considered a pioneering institution in the Arab world, specializing in puppetry and in developing and employing it as a means of expression and education.
Amid today’s challenges and the financial difficulties, and lack of funding sources that independent cultural institutions are facing, this exhibition serves as an open invitation to the public and to art collectors to contribute to sustaining this unique experience.
The exhibition features artworks by leading artists from Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Syria, and Sudan.
The works cover a wide range of themes, addressing issues of the Arab reality such as war, displacement, love, and hope. They also shed light on our everyday lives and resilience, through expressive, abstract, and symbolic artistic visions, presented in a variety of styles and techniques.
We invite you to visit the exhibition, reflect on the works, and acquire the pieces that resonate with you,
contributing to supporting the Foundation and its mission and ensuring its continuity as an independent cultural
center with a profound impact in our region.
About the Arab Puppet Theatre Foundation
Established in 2008, the Arab Puppet Theatre Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to promoting, preserving, and innovating the art of puppetry in the Arab world. The foundation functions as a mobile theatre, a puppet school, a restoration center, an archive, and a knowledge platform.
It recognizes the gap between the practice of puppetry and its presence in the region and places itself at the forefront of the effort to bridge this divide. The foundation aims to revive this ancient art form, modernize its tools, and support the growth of artists working in the field. Its work spans various initiatives, including creative performances for children and adults, training and capacity building, restoration and preservation, and the revival of traditional puppetry practices.
