SHAIBAN AHMAD

Shaiban Ahmed has a flair for creating tricky and vibrant stories through his images. He has progressed from using impressionist techniques in his earlier works to using more expressionist-cubist styles in his current pieces. He tends to use minimal amounts of color in his recent work, and places a lot of careful emphasis on the precise lines he draws to tell the tales of paradise lost that he portrays.

Shaiban Ahmad was born in 1964 in the city of Baghdad, Iraq. He had his first solo exhibition at the young age of nine in Yamen in 1973. He later attended the Baghdad Institute of Fine Arts, where he received a Diploma in Fine Arts with a focus on painting. In 1987, Shaiban was the recipient of the UNESCO Award.

In 1995, he received an Appreciation Award from the Center of Art in Baghdad. In addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions in Jordan, Iraq, and France, Shaiban was also commissioned by the Municipality of Baghdad to create a public fountain.
