QAHTAN ALAMEEN

Qahtan Alameen is a highly skilled and experienced artist with a diverse background in both traditional and digital art. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Alameen pursued his passion for art from a young age, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Baghdad. After relocating to Canada in 2002, Alameen continued his education in the field of art, studying photography at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and then going on to earn a Diploma in Graphic Design from Compu College in Halifax.

Throughout his career, Alameen has demonstrated a strong ability to create, design, prepare, and repair artwork using a variety of materials and techniques. He is particularly proficient in digital art, but also has extensive experience working with traditional media. His works have been featured in collections at prestigious institutions such as the Art Center for Fine Arts in Baghdad and the Canadian Immigration Art Center in Halifax.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Alameen has also dedicated time to volunteering as a Fine Arts teacher, working with the United Nations Refugee Services in Jakarta, Indonesia. In this role, he has had the opportunity to share his passion for art with refugee children, teaching them painting and drawing techniques.

One interesting aspect of Alameen's art is the sense of whimsy and naïveté that can be seen in the subject matter of his elaborate graphic prints. He has spoken about frequently dreaming of cool, colorful oceans populated by magical fish, whales, and other sea creatures, and this sense of wonder and imagination is evident in his work. Overall, Alameen is a talented and dedicated artist with a passion for using his skills to inspire and educate others.
