Fakher Mohammad

Born in 1954 in Babylon, Iraq, Fakher Mohammad earned two degrees from The Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad, a Bachelor in Painting (1977), and a Master’s in Painting (1980). In 2003, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Modern Painting. He currently holds the position of Dean of The College of Fine Arts at Babylon University and is a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndacite and the Society of Iraqi Plastic Artists. He is an undisputed pioneer in the Iraqi contemporary art scene.

With a diverse and resounding palette of styles, Fakher is a chameleon that embeds himself completely into any form that his paintings assume, whether abstracts or concrete in depiction.

Fakher has participated in an almost countless list of group exhibitions in cities that include Amman, Beirut, Doha, Paris, Berlin, Rome, and London. His work is featured in several museums in Iraq, in addition to the permanent collections of The Royal Jordanian Museum and The Qatar Museum of Plastic Arts.
His work is also part of private collections around the world.

He was also a winner of several prices such as “The special prize for merit of The Cagnes-sur-Mer Festival” 1984, “The Faik Hassan Silver Prize for Youth” ,1985 and the “Prize of Creativity in Painting on the occasion of Art Day”, 2000.
